Fi,

Generally, you need to look at either the High-Performance Forecasting solution or SAS/ETS (perhaps using Enterprise Guide as a front-end). Do you have access to any of these? SAS/STAT is not sufficient for forecasting.

What industry are you in? Retail or ?? What factors are currently considered to influence demand? You mention 'monthly sales' and 'daily budget' - what kind of seasonal/cyclic influences affect your products? (Are daily, weekly or monthly fluctuations significant?).

A bit more information would help get better responses from the 'L.

HTH, Dave.

I didn't see any replies here.

Can't you classify the products by the amount of data and use that in your model?

Intuitively I would expect new products may have some variation caused by leading edge and gadget buyers (surely the iPhone release is proof of that idea) so as the product matures we find it is less popular, or the market saturates and its sales fall.

Kind regards

David

Hi

I need some help to forecast what the monthly sales will be, to use in our daily budget update. We have several products that we would like to track, however, some of these products have only been recently introduced (ie there is less than a years worth of data). For older products I have approximately 4 years of data by day.

Does anyone have advice about how to go about it?

Thanks Fi
