Andrea,

I have a book coming out next month, "Saving Time and Money Using SAS" (SAS Press), that has a chapter detailing all the image file formats you can create in SAS 9.1.3, with indications of how appropriate they are for use in a range of applications. It may well be what you are looking for! ;-)
