Hi Folks,
Paul Super is a trained ornithologist who has conducted bird banding
for many years (since doing graduate work in Maine and California)
and is an excellent field birder on top of his scientific skills. He
currently lives in western North Carolina.

Charlie:
Would you submit for me the following observation? I know it is late
for anyone to follow up, but seems like a significant bird.

South end of Jekyll Island, Georgia
Magnificent Frigatebird
Description: long, pointed black tail pennants, usually held
together, but occasionally held apart; long, angled black wings;
black head and long dark bill with slight hook at end; white on
breast into belly leads me to believe it was a female, but I am not
familiar with all juvenile plumages; turned and hovered without
flapping wings, about 20m above water, before gradually drifting
south.
Observers: Paul and Anna Catherine Super, both of whom are familiar
with frigatebirds from Honduras and the former from Ecuador
no camera available for images
