I think Dianne was talking more about NGO's and CRO (Contract/Clinical Research Organizations). They (the CRO's) do clinical trials work for many pharmas and are a good place to gain valuable experience about clinical trials in a short period of time (you WILL work on many trials at any given time in many therapeutic areas).
