This late post is due to an unbelievable amount of stuff leading up to today(Happy Easter!). I was camping from Sunday to Wednesday (April1-4) in Crockford-Pigeon Mountain WMA in Walker Co. with a youth group from my church and had some decent birds. We were caving, rappeling, and scrambling around Rock Town while I tried to snare a few new birders.
Broad-Winged Hawk-1
Great-Horned Owl-3
Barred Owl-2
Eastern Screech Owl-1
Yellow-Throated Vireo-1
Blue-Headed Vireo-5
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher-8
Black-Throated Green Warbler-5
Black-and-White Warbler-4
Yellow-Rumped Warbler-1
Pine Warbler-4
Prairie Warbler-1 (heard on the 4th- Mountain extreme date the 3rd from The Annotated Checklist)
Hooded Warbler-1(heard on the 3rd-ties the mountain extreme date)
Common Yellowthroat-4
Louisiana Waterthrush-1
Field Sparrow-4 all singing away-actually every bird on this list was singing or calling!
I also had my 4th Bald Eagle for Cobb Co. on Friday, March 30 soaring and circling in a leisurely northerly direction along Hwy 41 near Hwy 92 West. It was a full adult and a lifer for several people I grabbed where I was working.
