Ted -
Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers are common visitors at feeders. They can
handle sunflower with ease, apparently. Mix in some sunflower meats and
peanuts and woodpecker activity will increase.

Subject: [GABO-L] Downy Woodpecker at feeder regularly
Hi All,
For the last couple of weeks, we've been getting a Downy (female) at our
backyard feeder just about everyday.
Seems to really like the black oil sunflower seeds.
This is the first woodpecker ever to feed from our feeder even though last
summer we did get a Red Headed Woodpecker(male)a couple of times at the
feeder wondering, we mused, at what all the other birds were doing.
Is it unusual to get a Downy at a feeder eating sunflower seeds?
