OBIS is being worked on. The biggest problem, that will soon be fixed, is that taxa are not well correlated. If you had searched OBIS for just the species name pupoides you would have found the 1999 listing by Higo, Callomon and Goto who cited it as Eufenella pupoides.
Finella pupoides A. Adams, 1860 is the type species of Eufinella Kuroda & Habe, 1952 so that has to be a correct placement (unless someone places Eufinella in the synonymy of another genus).
In answer to your big question, the answer is no. Anyone at all interested in such details needs to acquire as much taxonomic literature as possible.
