I know you probably won't have much choice - Instead of Excel - can you
work with CSV files - if you have an option of downloading them
directly off the internet? That'll be simpler - and easy to
control/manipulate - in terms of the data types, lengths, etc. And you
don't have to live with versions and incompatibility.
