Subject: Scissor-tailed Flycatchers in McDonough
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
I saw two adult Scissor-tailed Flycatchers at the King Mill Rd. powerline cut in McDonough in Henry Co. early this morning. They were very cooperative, perching either on the first powerline tower or on the nearby wires. A scope is not necessary, but is very helpful. This spot has hosted these great birds for five years now.
Directions: From exit 216 (southerly-most McDonough exit on I-75), proceed east on GA 155 to King Mill Road at the entrance to Midland Industrial Park on the right. Turn right and continue through the industrial park to it's dead end into GA 42. Turn left on GA 42 and turn right on King Mill Road, until you cross a powerline cut in about a 1/4 mile. Park in the dirt area of the powerline cut on your right, and look at the powerlines on the opposite side of the road. Be careful - at 0745 this morning this road was pretty darn busy and there's not a lot of room to maneuver.
Good Birding!
