The award is given annually to a currently-enrolled international student

Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary is working hard to assist the students at
Oglethorpe Ave. Elementary School, but we need your help! If you have any
free time in your busy schedule, please consider one of the following
opportunities. Every child needs to feel important. Become a mentor to a
child by visiting the child at school or taking time to talk to the child
outside of school. Being a mentor involves listening to the child and
allowing the child to feel confident. As a mentor your main job is to be a
friend. Practice Makes Perfect! Volunteer your time to assist a child in a
particular academic area that they may be struggling with. The teacher will
determine the area the student needs assistance with and will give you
suggestions on how to help the child. No matter whether they are having
trouble with their multiplication facts, spelling words, or even basic
grammar, the one-on-one attention is sure to improve their success in the
classroom. If you would like to make an impact on a young life, please Reda
Elder, Family Engagement Coordinator, Clarke County School District,
Oglethorpe East Elementary School, 280 Gaines School Road, Athens, GA
