Subject: AnswerTree vs. SPSS Classification Trees module
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="windows-1250"

Does anyone here use BOTH of these products?

I have AnswerTree 3.0 and have used the Classification Trees module on an SPSS 13 installation at another site. It seems to me that the only thing which AnswerTree can do, and the Trees mod cannot, is interactively choose surrogates on CART-based models. On the other hand, the Trees mod offers much tighter integration with SPSS in terms of output and functionality. Modeling options appear to be identical.

I’m thinking of getting the Trees mod when I upgrade from v12 to v14, but I’m having a hard time justifying the cost of buying another module (there is no “cross-grade” pricing between the two). Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks.
