That clipboard suggestion is very funny, as well as a good idea! Of course,
carrying a field guide or checklist wouldn't hurt either, as far as backing
up our birding "story." I seem to get more questions when using my scope
than binoculars. People want to know what I am photographing and are
usually very confused when I say I'm "just looking." Very suspicious
behavior. So, I usually leave the scope behind when I am birding solo. And I
am still contemplating getting some "Caution:Birder Makes Frequent Stops"
bumper stickers made up.
I am also in the 20-something minority age group. I'm curious how many of
us "young adult" birders there are in GA. There are two of us in Ocmulgee
Audubon Society. I wish we could get a little state group together (at
least online) for those of us who don't fit the "typical birder"
(40-plus???) or "junior birder" (18 & under) molds. If you are interested,
drop me a line.
Best Wishes for Great Birds in the New Year!
