The page you referenced says that the Marriott and Courtyard are OK.

I will probably choose not to stay at any of the convention hotels, since I'll be on my own nickle. Expedia shows less expensive hotels nearby, and I will try to check some out soon. Note to those unfamiliar with San Francisco: hotels west of the convention center may be in unpleasant neighborhoods - check the reviews.
