I used to live about 3 miles from the GPTV tower so naturally this is one of my favorite birding spots. I've only birded this location three times this fall and probably won't get a chance to go back this year.

Today, I found the following at the Pine Mountain Trail in Meriwether County: October 4, 2005 Highlights Golden-winged Warbler- female Chestnut-sided Warbler- 3 Magnolia Warbler- 4 Tennessee Warbler- too many to count Black-throated Blue- one male Blackburnian Warbler- 1 Myrtle Warbler- 1 Black-throated Green Warbler- 1 Prairie Warbler- 1 Palm Warbler- at least one Pine Warblers- many Bay-breasted Warbler- 2 Blackpoll- 1 Worm-eating Warbler- 4 seen, a few also heard Black-and-White Warbler- 10+ American Redstart- only 1 Ovenbird- 2 Hooded Warbler- 5 Baltimore Oriole- female with a white belly Scarlet Tanagers Acadian Flycatcher- 2 still calling Rose-breasted Grosbeaks- several Swainson's Thrushes- several

This is a good fall for Blackpolls. I think that the lingering hurricane in the Atlantic pushed them inland. The last fall Blackpoll that I remember before 2005 was at this same location in 1998. This fall Eric and I found one at Indian Springs and I spotted another on the Monroe County Fall Migration Count so this is the third time I've seen them this season and I'm birding less this year than in the past.

I don't recall so many Worm-eatings this late in the year.

On September 26, 2005 there were: Worm-eating Warbler-2 Am. Redstart Tennessee Warbler-3 Hooded Warbler-3 Black-and-White- 2 Chestnut-sided- 2 Swainson's Thursh- 10 Veery- 2 Acadians- several still calling And the Philadelphia Vireo and Yellow-bellied Flycatcher

Here is what I found on September 18, 2005 in Harris County at FDR State Park on the nature trail below Lake Delano:

Northern Parula- 2 Tennesse Warbler- 1 Blue-winged Warbler- female Chestnut-sided Warbler Blackburnian Warbler Pine Warblers Bay-breasted Warbler- 1 Worm-eating Warbler- 1 Black-and-white Warbler- 2 American Redstart-3 Hooded Warbler Black-throated Green- 1 Alder Flycatcher- observed at close range gave the "pip" note 4 times.

On May 27, 2005 I birded near the GPTV tower to try to find out how many Worm-eating Warblers were breeding in the area. I found two different pairs (4 birds) along the creek near the location where I found the babies back in 2003. There was also another bird singing near the swamp. Although I found no nests on this attempt it at least shows that several birds are in the area. There were also a pair of Black-and-White Warblers and a singing Yellow-throated Warbler.
