Thanks a lot for the solutions. I appreciate your suggestions and comments. Well, there was nothing like "boss said so". The main motive behind all these struggles was to put data into different formats. Let’s say, if one would like to put data into text and excel formats besides SAS then don’t you think it would be helpful. Second reason was classification of the data by site into different format. Third reason, not all people uses SAS at my work place. The final point is I am encouraged to learn macro now.
