Subject:   Re: Can anybody recommend an artile or book on data _null_?

There have been some helpful responses already. I've nothing to add.

I merely want to point out that the "_NULL_" is entirely incidental and optional. It merely prevents creation of an output data set.

I have developed DATA step FILE/PUT report generators where I did create output data sets, containing summary information to be used in an index.
