GABO Michael Bell posted that David Varnado told him that he saw 5 Mag. Frigatebirds on 7/9/05 near Colquitt, Miller County. This was, Michael noted, ahead of Hurricane Dennis. This location is, as I scaled it of on my big map of the state, 30-32 miles northeast of the dam at Lake Seminole where on 7/11/05, two days later, Michael and Eric Beohm saw 6 MAFR from the dam after the main part of the storm had passed to the west. Eric in his post on 7/14/05 suggested that the 2 groups may have been the same birds though I think at the time he may not have seen Bell's post that the Miller County birds were seen on Saturday, 7/9/05, not on Sunday, 7/10/05. Anyway, it seems to me that these were two separate groups of MAFR. The Miller County birds would have been back in the Gulf before dawn on Sunday and well away from the storm.
