Subject: Of grosbeaks and buntings
Hi All,
In the very few minutes alloted this weekend to gazing out into the back
yard in Tucker (Gwinnett County), I was rewarded on Saturday with a female
Rose-Breasted Grosbeak and an immature male? indigo bunting. (Looked like
a male from the front, but the wings, rump and part of the tail were
brown?). On Sunday, a male Rose-Breasted Grosbeak and 2 male indigo
buntings in full breeding plumage were on view. Makes me wonder what I
missed the rest of the time! Also had a very confused Downy woodpecker
trying his luck on the bloom stalk of lyre-leaf sage.
In addition, 2 male and 1 female Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks were sighted in
Brookhaven (Dekalb County) a few hours earlier on Sunday.
Can't wait to see what shows up next.
