I had a brief but very productive late afternoon visit to Jekyll Island today. As others have posted, the Brants were readily visible at the soccer fields. I made a dash to Marjorie Clark's house from there thinking it was too late for a chance at the White-winged Dove(s), but Bill Lotz had preceded me and was spotted by Marjorie at the same time she saw one of the birds from an upstairs window. Down she came and they were able to usher me right to the magnolia tree for lovely views of this beautiful bird, and I have to tell you, I'd have looked for a very long time before I spotted the dove deep in the shadows near the trunk.
My thanks and, I'm sure, those of many others to Marjorie. She's tirelessly typed directions out for anyone who asked, come out to help anyone who needed it, and epitomized the gracious hostess in every way.
