The Harvard Business Review has a monthly column in which some thorny business problem (usually related to personnel) is presented, and four opinions on what to do are given by business and academic leaders.

In the September 2004 issue, the question was about micro-managing. A new high-level employee felt that she was not being allowed to make decisions, and her supervisor felt that mistakes would be made if everything wasn't reviewed by him (summary is at <http://harvardbusinessonline.hbsp.harvard.edu/b01/en/common/item_detail.jht ml?id=R0409A>).

One of the opinions was by Dr. Goodnight.

If your company library subscribers to the HBR, it might be worth borrowing that issue. The article is not available online without paying a fee, as far as I can tell.
