To make this as legal as possible I will report that I still have at least two ruby-throated hummingbirds coming to the feeders. Oct. 13 was last year's late date in my yard. I'll keep watch to see if they push the envelop.

Now dear friends, I need some help and this it the only source I can think of I am flying out to northern Ca. next week for a few days with my son. Of course I want to take my binocs and scope. Problem is, Joe always took care of this part of travel. I figure I should take my binocs and the Leica in its little olive drab suit in my carry on but how do you take a tripod. Mine is a Manfrotto which will collapse no shorter than 30 inches. Different equipment might be a future option but not between now and Monday!!

This is a big step in crossing the barrier of being alone. Please help me make it easier. Please answer personally to bittaker@alltel.net
