Hi Joe,

That is not the STAT-L I referred to. I ment STAT-L@LISTS.MCGILL.CA, subscribing through LISTSERV@LISTS.MCGILL.CA (see http://LISTS.MCGILL.CA). Its newsgroup counterpart, previously its equivalent, is the newsgroup sci.stat.consult, accessible via e.g. Google (http://groups.google.nl/groups?hl=nl&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=sci.stat.consult). But there are other interesting statistical (discussion) lists. like EDSTAT-L (from the web page you specified) and ALLSTAT (allstat@JISCMAIL.AC.UK).

Showing statistically significant differences between football teams, generally all sporters, requires larger samples than usually applied.

I just searched the Listserv "catalist" (http://www.lsoft.com/lists/listref.html)

for "stat-l" and found what looks to be a faculty discussion list at American University. Has STAT-L folded? Jerry, you may have to use Google groups or another news provider. --Joe
