The Wood Duck eggs have not hatched yet. I am really glad they didn't come off the nest over the weekend because I wouldn't have been able to watch them leave the box. I have my photo blind set up so at least they are used to seeing it for a few days and will not be afraid of it.
I checked late this afternoon and heard "peeps" coming from several of the eggs - but not my "mystery egg" - it was silent! Normally it takes about two days of hatching and drying out before they leave so maybe Tuesday or Wednesday morning will be the day.
Stephen heard a waterthrush a couple days ago and we located it late this afternoon. It is a Louisiana Waterthrush and was calling for a mate. This one was perched in a tree and very visible.
