Traditionally, the default behavior would be a WARNING message in the SAS log giving RC=04. I assume that you have searched there for some clues. If not, then post the block of JES log back to the list and we can help some more.

Does anyone know how/where I can find out what conditions in SAS cause a return code of 04 in MVS? We're running SAS v8, usually in batch mode, on OS390.
