Following up on Steve's post, I know that you can email an RBA sighting
directly to Jeff if you prefer that to calling the RBA line. I think it
would be good to have some clarification about what happens to observations
that are simply posted to GABO. My impression is that they may or may not
get picked up by Jeff or by a transcriber, and I can certainly understand
that. Trying to glean data for the county database from GABO posts is well
nigh impossible, and it's much more efficient for people to send such
information straight to me. Maybe Jeff could give us a policy statement on
this subject.
Another related, and thornier, issue is, "What should be reported to the
RBA?" We've had discussions on this before, and perhaps it's time again to
have an update on this topic as well.

Subject: [GABO-L] a note about the RBA
| Hi All,
|
| I'm one of the 4 transcribers of the Rare Bird Alert. It's not all
| Jeff, can you perhaps post some info on the RBA. For example, I
| would assume that anyone that reports a significant find on GABO-L
| would not need to call the hotline. You'll just get the info from
| the listserv. If this is not true, please let us know.
