Every 2-3 days we'll have a single pine siskin appear and I saw one this
morning. None have shown any yellow whatsoever - until one showed up last week
with a strikingly yellow '<' on the wing. When he flapped his wings and bright
yellow flashed everywhere we both said "Wow". Haven't seen him since but he
added some yellow to a drab winter along with our male pine warblers.
Haven't had a chance to watch for cranes at all - we had a litter of
mini-doxies this week so all attention will be on them for the next several weeks.
They come in all colors so figuring out just what they are is a whole lot of
fun!!
