I agree. Nothing more satisfying than starting Outlook and watching
SpamBayes move ~200 crappy messages to the garbage.

Alternately look at SpamBayes. Same idea, and it works on a couple of
platforms, but still not outlook express.
Even though we are not allowed to load software on our work machines, it is
a plug-in for outlook and I was able to set it up.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Ed and Tom,
If you are using Outlook *and* are permitted to install software on your
machine, I would highly recommend Outclass (see http://www.vargonsoft.com/).
From their website:
"Outclass provides POPFile's Bayesian mail classification capability for
Outlook 2000, 2002 and 2003! (Outlook Express is not supported) Stop spam
from cluttering your Inbox and automatically sort your email! With Outclass,
you can take control of your email again! And best of all, it's free! "
I have been using Outclass for almost two years now and it is much easier
and works better than continually adjusting Outlook filters manually.

Hi Tom,
I get a flare-up every time I post. These days I post only through the UGA
facility to ensure I don't add to the problem. There is no substitute for
having some virus detection software; mine scans anything going in and out
of my machine. I already have a firewall but the detection software still
gets loads of hits every time I download email from my ISP.
Here are a few phrases in the email subject that my Outlook inbox wizard
screen for and auto-delete:
upgrade, Upgrade, Bug, bug, Failure, Mailer, Current Internet Critical
Patch, Error Notice, Undeliverable, Internet Patch, Network Security,
Returned Mail.
Of course I end up updating it every other day.
HTH.
