A short visit to E.L. Huie before the rain yesterday produced some great looks and some nice birds for Hélen Prinsloo, my sister-in-law Nancy Buckley and me:

GADWALL, MALLARD, NORTHERN SHOVELER, GREEN-WINGED TEAL, RING-NECKED DUCK, LESSER SCAUP, BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON GOLDENEYE, HOODED MERGANSER, RUDDY DUCK, RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, AMERICAN COOT, LEAST SANDPIPERS, WILSON’S SNIPE, AMERICAN PIPIT and a zillion CANADA GEESE.

But the best part was the quick stop at the Wetland Center which was closed, but there were ten WILD TURKEYS leaving the bird feeders near the front door and slowly ambling towards the trail. Since we were in the car, we were very close without frightening them.

Gobble.
