According to an article in the January 2003 Application Development Trends, SAS Instute has "acquired certain technology assets of Verbind, a maker of real-time behavioral tracking and event-triggering technology."

The article goes on to say that the technology will be integrated into the SAS Interaction Management "toolset". It is used in CRM to predict individual (as opposed to group, I suppose) behavior.

SAS has been making a lot of acquisitions lately - it's turning into another Computer Associates.
