Subject: WARNING: Record Truncated (Without an INFILE or INPUT?)

I saw a datastep in 8.2 on unix this week. It seemed to be setting a dataset (not a view) and selecting a few million records. The log included a warning. It was simply: WARNING: Record Truncated The thing is, I think of records as flatfile data. SAS observations are observations and if one is truncated then the dataset is corrupt. I couldn't find any clues in the knowledge base, so I decided to try the broader knowledge base here on the list. Does anyone know what causes this warning?

Thanks in Advance, Tim Berryhill
