Subject: Sandhill Cranes

About 75 Sandhill Cranes flew over Hickory Ridge in a broken V heading due south this afternoon about 3:45. (Hickory Ridge is about 5 miles SE of Canton in Cherokee County.) The sunlight glinting on their under parts as the flew away from me was just stunning. I thought I had struck out on the Sandhills. I have been away for a few days and have not seen a recent report of them flying through.

I don't think I saw the same birds as Hal Massie, though the numbers are similar. Crawford County must be south, I think.

Hanging clothes is a good thing to do on a clear breezy afternoon.
