Subject: Cypraecassis tenuis - has operculum or not?
Hello,
Jose got some Cypraecassis tenuis in Ecuador and some were alive. The shells were cleaned there so I did not see the animal. I noticed there was no operculum with the shells. I asked Jose and he said he cleaned himself some of them and checked thoroughly the animal, but nothing was found. I know Cypraeacassis testiculus have operculum only at early stage, and I only saw it in a very small specimen, under one centimeter. According to a friend, Kreipl and Abbott say it has operculum though very small. Have any of you seen operculum on adult specimens?
Off the subject, I had some Gremlins visiting my office last week and my computer had problems. I lost all messages from October 23 to November 8. If any of you sent messages to shells@femorale.com.br or shells@femorale.com in that period and got no response, please send it again.
