Subject: Can SAS pass a parameter to Excel in a Batch job?

To SAS-Lers,

I am looking for another alternative to be able to have SAS on an Alpha platform to launch an Excel job on an NT platform in a batch environment.

Currently, I am creating a CSV file from our Alpha Platform which contains some records of codes for the Excel spreadsheet to read and process a list of codes in this CSV through the Excel macro. Then the Excel macro executes and does its thing, and quits the Excel application.

I was wondering if it would be possible to pass a parameter to the Excel command so that it will process one of the codes individually and separately without having to read a file with one code listed inside of it.

In addition, it could be likely this batch process would execute many times for various codes including the same code multiple times.

So, my question is – Is it possible to pass a parameter/option to Excel to do something based upon this parameter/code??? I have not been able to find any such way to do this other than creating a CSV file and having Excel read through the file.

Just looking for another way – Thanks for any suggestions/code you may be able to offer.
