It all hangs on the attitude of the industry. For example, one of the
previous organisations I worked for would fire you for downloading software
from the Internet. Didn't matter if it was just SAS source code and totally
relevent for th job and freeware. If you downloaded it you could get fired
for doing so. So it is a great shame that your venture failed but I am sure
this was due to management policies that were thought out before thinking
about them.
I'm just addressing the needs of the pharmaceutical industry, but if global
sharing is a good idea for statisticians then why isn't it a good idea for
pharm industry programmers? Maybe someone could post a good reason. There
must be one, after all.
