This past Friday morning I was having coffee on my deck around 10:30 a.m. I saw a large bird in the top of a dead hardwood tree and proceed to set up my scope. I watched this bird for over an hour and quickly realized it was a Peregrine Falcon! It was clearly resting after a long flight and was not even bothered by the nearby crows. It even closed its eyes several times. With the scope I could clearly define the yellow eye ring, bill colors and the distinct dark head with the white neck, black patches on the sides of the neck and more white toward the rear. What a gorgeous bird and a great addition to my yard and life list. It stayed for almost 90 minutes before flying off.
