Subject: Sas Macro question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

To Jim & Dennis:

Thanks for the quick replies. You're both correct in that I only know macros from a very beginner level. This code was given to me Friday by my boss and I was told to come up with a solution this week. Anyway, I've gone ("browsed") through two books, both of which I want to read in depth (if you can recommend other sources please do). One is "Carpenter's complete guide to the SAS macro language" and the other is "SAS macro facility tips & techniques" but the problem is I need a solution quickly.

What I'm trying to do is assign different price ranges to different products, then, be able to call one "Proc report" that will generate the correct price buckets based on a format. The "Proc Report" that we have here uses a number of macro variables to generate different reports. This is a very simplistic explanation and I'm not sure it helps much. I did look at the code and thought it could be done more efficiently and I might have to take the time to do that, but again I don't have even an average understanding of the macro language and was looking to the list for help.

Thanks again Debbie
