but saw and heard very good numbers of Dickcissels.
Jim and I tried to locate the White-Rumped and Semi-palmated Sandpipers
in Bartow county yesterday. I guess we should have gone earlier as the
ponds were all filled with four-legged animals. No self-respecting
sandpiper would have been around the ponds as full of cattle as they
were. There were only a few Killdeer and a couple of female Mallards
with their little families.
We did, however, find that the fields (along Brandon Farms Rd and Taff
Rd) were full of Dickcissels and Eastern Meadowlarks. Needless to say,
it was pretty noisy.
Going to have to try again for those sandpipers, but we'll go earlier -
before the cattle go swimming.
