Hi,


I have a Character Variable called Sample which has observations like
sampleA, sampleB sampleC etc. I wish to convert these observations to
numeric type like in place of sampleA I wish to have 1, for sampleB 2
etc.


Can someone please help me convert the observations to numeric?
