Inexpensive off the shelf packages for address and name standardization:

The best deal I have seen out there is www.semaphorecorp.com ($79.00?) Semaphore used to give away a little Windows Name Parser executable. I have used the Name parser software with SAS batch, but have not used Semaphores address standardization

The premier software is Group1, but can easliy cost upwards of $100,000 on a large IBM mainframe. SAS DataFlux software is less expensive, but not an order of magnitue less($40k?). On the NT2000/XP platforms there are Accumail (Group1 spinoff? UNIX other platforms $10k?), MIRUS($10k?) and Mailers+4($500?).

I all fairness, some of the packages above do more than address stadarization, however once Addresses and Names have been standadized, those who know their data can often outperform standard match/merge software. For instance, with ISP data, one often has very good phone numbers and CC numbers, so keys based on these numbers should be given higher weights then address data. .

I believe all packages above are CASS and PAVE certified.
