Yesterday afternoon I walked the Orange Trail at the State
Botanical Garden in Athens, and had the following notables:
Northern Parula (5)
Yellow-throated Warbler (1)
Common Yellowthroat (1)
Red-shouldered Hawk (3) at beaver pond area
Barred Owl (2)
The barred owls were calling to each other with the usual hoots as
well as the wild-sounding "monkey calls". I saw them flying around
and then sitting together briefly before they flew out of sight. All
this activity occurred on the river bank opposite the trail near the
power line.
