Subject: Attn: Glenn Burns - Suggestion
For the past couple of months, Nov., Dec., and very early Jan. migrating
Sandhill cranes have been flying over metro Atlanta heading south toward
their wintering grounds in the Okefenokee and central Florida. These are
soaring birds and require updrafts or thernals to fly. They will be
coming back north in Feb. and March to their summer homes in the
Wisconsin area. It would be helpful to birders of this area if you and
your minions at WSB could predict the days that will have thermals to
enable them to fly. This is only a suggestion, use it as you see fit.
Cheers,
Bob Humphries
