Subject: Floyd Co. waterfowl
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Typically several hundred waterfowl winter on the small lakes in the Garden Lakes residential subdivision in Floyd Co. or stop by for varying periods of time on their way south or north. I have recorded 19 species there over the years, and they have begun arriving this season. Of the hundreds of American Coots which are found on the main lake in the winter, 43 had arrived by last Friday, 19 Oct. Today that number had doubled. Additional birds seen today - Pied-billed Grebe 3 American Wigeon 5 Blue-winged Teal 2 Ring-necked Duck 9 And, of course, a few dozen Canada Geese and assorted domestic fowl.
