Subject: Common Nighthawks

While driving home this evening, I spotted a flock of about 100 Common Nighthawks swirling overhead. Some of them seemed just overhead, while others seemed far up in the sky, near the bottom of the rain clouds that were spitting out droplets. This sighting was on GA 9 at the Lumpkin County/Dawson County Line and just north of the county line. They were spread out over about a mile. I frequently see hawks and buteos in this area; but this is the first time I noticed Common Nighthawks. Perhaps because they are usually out later in the day than when I usually travel GA 9.

Kathleen
