If I still had UltraEdit, that's exactly what I would do. It's a very
pleasant SAS programming environment.
Another way (if you have SAS/CONNECT and don't have UltraEdit, but want to
use a Windows editor) is to put RSUBMIT; at the top and ENDRSUBMIT; at the
bottom of your code. Not as good a solution as UltraEdit.

I totally agree with Don here. UltraEdit is super feature-laden. Here's
the scenario for development:
Edit SAS code in UE (using UE app-specific text-highlighting).
"Save As to FTP" (from UE) to the UNIX box.
Switch to your Telnet app (Powerterm is my favorite).
Sub the job you just saved.
When it's done, switch back to UE.
"Open from FTP" (in UE) the .log or .lst file in UNIX.
Make changes if necessary and re-FTP to UNIX.
Re-submit.
When job is done, UE "Revert to Saved" .log/.lst file (opens new .log/.lst
file).
Keep going till your done.
That's how I do it. HTH.
