Using the GIF733 driver makes no difference in the way the symbols are rendered, i.e. they still come out diamond-shaped instead of round (when small in size). Without the XPIXELS and YPIXELS goptions in the program the resulting GIF file is 733x550 pixels as defined in the driver. The picture doesn't look any better and it's too big a size, too. After putting the XPIXELS and YPIXELS goptions back into my program, the GIF file looks the same as before with the GIF driver. All round symbols are still distorted.

The only difference between the GIF and the GIFnnn drivers seems to be the resulting file size in pixels. The problem with the GIF drivers seems to be the inaccuracy of the rendering of the picture by the driver.

Has anybody achieved good results with GIF files from SAS? How? -- Arjen Raateland Finnish Environment Institute SAS Support phone +358 9 4030 0350
