Sterling,
Just make it clear to IS that SAS doesn't stand for anything and it isn't a
programming language. If they still argue, then suggest that all software
using user input is a form of programming language and should be removed
immediately.
My first college advisor told me to register for two courses at the same
time to avoid a dumb rule. He then explained that he could not help me
until there was a crisis.

Subject: disable program editors?
OK, kind of an off-the-wall question: Would it be possible to somehow
disable the Program Editor and Enhanced Editor, while leaving the ability to
do analysis using Assist and Insight intact? Our IT policies don't allow
installation of programming languages outside the IS division, but we have
some non-programmers outside IS that have a legitimate need to use SAS for
analytical purposes. The only solution I can think of is to somehow cripple
the part of SAS that allows for user-written programs to be developed. Is
it possible? Thanks for any suggestions.
