Subject: Lapland Longspur at E. L. Huie

When Nelson and I returned to Huie from a lunch break in midafternoon,
Aubrey Scott had located a single Lapland Longspur on the spillway at the
northeast pond; unfortunately it had flown prior to our arrival. Soon,
however, the four of us (joined by Pat Michaelson) heard a bird - likely
two - still in the area of the pond, and Rusty Trump called our attention
via radio to one flying behind us. We heard and saw the bird(s) in flight
periodically for a while before following one to the ground at the SW corner
of the pond - we had distant (unsatisfying!) views prior to its departure
and neither saw nor heard it again, though we stayed until near dark.
Saw neither Snow nor Ross's Goose.
