Subject:      Migration hurdles (V6-->V8)

Hello. We are going to upgrade to V8e (from 6.12), and I've a question regarding the migration: So, we are running 200 PC-clients, via SAS/CONNECT, up against a VMS server. Since upgrading the clients obviously will take some time (anyone tried to automate the installation, over a network?), we need to run both V8 and V6 clients at the same time.

The problem: V8 can't write to V6 catalogs. This is according to SAS' documentation. It seems to me that this will be a problem, when our V8 clients are going to update formats etc. on the server (which is still on version 6, until all the clients are over to V8, right?).

Thanks in advance for any help on this topic, Stig Eide
