Mr. Root is quick on the trigger to blame Microsoft for this problem. If you call technical support, they will tell you to install Win 2000 Pro (or buy the server licence) because they purposely disallowed installation on Win 2000 AS. ----- Original Message ----- From: Herbert Root To: Frederic Vachon Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2000 11:28 AM Subject: Re: Am I the only one with this problem?

I recently upgraded to Windows 2000 advanced server from NT server 4.0. The problem is, SPSS (single licence) won't install on this OS

Sorry you had to go this route. It will be a long time before this platform approaches NT4 in stability, usability, compatability, or any other -ilities. It may never get there; witness the gradual decline over the years of regular Windoze. It just keeps getting worse.

It's no surprise to me that SPSS won't install on Windows 2000 AS. I know that doesn't help your situation--I'm not being unsympathetic--but I don't think it's fair of you to blame SPSS for Microsoft's shortcomings.
