Hi GABO,
A little late afternoon/evening birding on a canopied dirt road on 26
August turned up a few migrants, as well as the usual locals.
On Ramsey Rd off of Hwy 221 in Brooks County, Barbara Passmore and I saw
and/or heard:
1 Red-shouldered Hawk
1 Northern Bobwhite
1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo
3 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds
1 Acadian Flycatcher
3 Great-crested Flycatchers
1 Eastern Kingbird
1 White-eyed Vireo
1 Yellow-throated Vireo - singing
2 Red-eyed Vireos
! 1 White-breasted Nuthatch
2 Brown-headed Nuthatches
8 Northern Parulas
2 Yellow-throated Warblers
1 Pine Warbler
1 Black-and-White Warbler
1 Prothonotary Warbler
2 Summer Tanagers - adult males
3 Bachman's Sparrows- singing
Other local birds seen as well including woodpeckers, titmice, chickadees, etc.
In the same area on Sunday, 27 August, the activity was a little bit
different. In the late afternoon, I saw the following:
1 Wild Turkey
1 Northern Bobwhite
1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo
3 Red-headed Woodpeckers (+ Red-bellied, Downy, and Pileated)
1 Acadian Flycatcher
2 Great-crested Flycatchers
4 Loggerhead Shrikes (various areas on and around Ramsey Rd)
1 White-eyed Vireo
1 Red-eyed Vireo
3 Northern Parulas
2 Pine Warblers
2 Prairie Warblers
2 Bachman's Sparrows (1 seen, 2 singing)
1 Indigo Bunting (singing)
in addition to other birds.
